The History Of FOREX

The Forex trading market is a relatively new phenomenon. Never before in the history of the world have we seen such an amazing event. In only 30 years, this industry has developed from almost nothing to a daily US$1.5 trillion market. How did this happen? Was it by design? Or was it by accident?Well the answer falls somewhere in between. There are three distinct time frames that set the stage for today's style of currency trading. The first time frame is the pre-currency trading era of the 1950s. The second time frame is the worldwide, politically volatile atmosphere of the 1970s. The third time frame is what has occurred in this free market economy since the demise of the gold standard 30 years ago. In each time frame, there have been three catalysts: war, gold, and foreign banks- that have played a significant role in propelling currency development

Forex History of early 1950

Entering into the 1950s, the United States of America had a distinct advantage over war-torn Europe. While Germany was heavily sanctioned, England, France, Italy, and several other Old World nations were just coming to terms with the heavy investment needed to rebuild their countries. As a way to make it easier for the rest of the world to rebuild, the Bretton Woods Agreement was adopted. It was innocuously simple: in an effort to keep the United States of America (USA) from buying everything in sight, the Bretton Woods Agreement kept the USA in check by requiring all foreign currencies be pegged to the US Dollar. Some pegs were strong, some pegs were weak, but at the end of the day they never moved more than 1% in any direction. Like today's problem with the Chinese Yuan, forced to a peg against the dollar, it kept a constant, controlled flow of US dollars out of the country. The peg would not have been so bad if not for the fact that the US dollar also had a unique relationship with gold. Just like currencies, gold was pegged to the dollar at a fixed value of US$35/ounce. What made it even worse was that US currency, at the time, was directly exchangeable for gold. This strategy was fine as long as the Fort Knox gold reserves exceeded $23 billion. After World War II, the USA became the primary economic super power. Many foreign countries began to acquire US currency in lieu of gold. The dollar gained prominence in a way no other currency ever had before. At the same time, we began to see the rebuilding of the Old World and foreign trade began to gain momentum. In 1950, foreign countries held US $8 billion. We also saw the oil business begin its ascent as a prominent import/export industry

Jaguar Land Rover plans Job cuts and shutdown

The Tatas-owned Jaguar Land Rover plans an extended shut down of its UK plants and a new round of staff layoffs as it struggles to cope up with the slump in the world car market, a media report said today. "Executives at Jaguar Land Rover, the Midlands carmaker, are drawing up plans for an extended shutdown of its UK plants and a new round of staff layoffs," UK daily ''The Sunday Times'' reported on its online edition today.

Preparation for the closures comes just days after the company released its new flagship, the latest version of the Jaguar XJ beloved by Prime Ministers and top British executives, the report said. The car was launched at a glitzy party in Londons Saatchi Gallery on Thursday, to critical acclaim.

Jaguar Land Rover, which employs some 15,000 people in the UK, has so far avoided the lengthy shutdowns that some other carmakers have used to save money and run down stock. Honda, for example, closed its plant at Swindon for three months.

Last month Tata Motors stated that mounting losses at the UK carmaker had pushed it into its first annual loss of 522 million dollars (322 million pounds) in seven years, and warned drastic cost-cutting should be expected. It said sales at its British subsidiary had fallen by a third.

Michael Jackson was Murdered for 1 billion pound fortune-La Toya

Michael Jackson was murdered for his 1-billion-pound fortune, according to his heartbroken sister La Toya.

In an exclusive interview, the former Playboy model, 53, said that she and the family are convinced her brother's apparent drugs overdose was "foul play" by a shadowy group out to get their hands on his 1-billion-pound fortune.

"We don't think just one person was involved in the murder. It was a conspiracy to get Michael's money," News of the World quoted her as saying.

La Toya, the closest person to Michael from the whole tight-knit Jackson clan, said that she has vowed revenge on the people she claims murdered her brother Michael.

"I know who did it and I won't rest until I nail them," she added.

La Toya added: "Michael was murdered. And we don't think just one person was involved. Rather, it was a conspiracy of people.

Feel it was all about money. Michael was worth well over a billion in music publishing assets and somebody killed him for that. He was worth more dead than alive."

La Toya's revelations come just two days after the chief of Los Angeles police admitted they were investigating the singer's death as possible homicide.

Articles the secret of Niche Marketing?

Article writing has become popular recently. Search engines have changed the way they rank web sites and have begun to place a stronger value on good content. Correction: they have become better at filtering out commercial content, sales pitches, and advertising posing as content.

One incredibly good method of achieving a web presence with good content is that of article writing. Why? It provides the content that the search engines are looking for. It provides meaningful content for the individual searching the web for good information. And it provides an avenue whereby the article writer can be noticed on the web.

Where does niche marketing come in? First of all, lets define niche marketing as marketing that is designed to meet the needs of a small group of individuals (a niche), rather than the mass needs of individuals. For example, a particular type of pet owner, a particular type of web user, or a particular religious faith might be considered niche markets.

For niche markets like these, traditional forms of mass Internet marketing, such as banner ads, classifieds, and traffic generation programs, are not as effective. The mass advertising forms are much more effective, cost-wise, when promoting a product that has wide market appeal.

So what does the niche marketer do? Assuming he has a web presence, and provides a quality product or other solution to the niche customer’s needs, he can become involved in article writing. The articles would be of a particular interest to the niche customer. They would contain valuable information that the niche customer cannot find anywhere else.

Sometimes article writers will write generic articles that really don’t provide any real benefit to the reader, thinking that an article is an article. That is simply not true. Think about yourself. When you read an article, if you do not learn something new when you read the article, are you disposed to learning more about the person, company, or products represented by the article writer?

The key to writing articles for a niche market and effectively gaining web presence by doing it, is to write quality. Fill the article with useful information. Show the reader that you really are an expert in your niche. Give the reader a burning desire to want to hear more of what you have to say about their need. And the only way you can create that burning desire is to give them quality information in the first place.

Good, well-written, articles are the key to niche marketing in today’s Internet marketing environment. Write articles, submit them to the most-used article databases, and watch your web site traffic grow.

Note: You have my permission to reprint and distribute this article as long as it is distributed in its entirety, including all links.

Reciprocal Links for Website for SEO

Getting in-bound links to your site is one of the most important things you can do for generating traffic to your site:

* It helps to get your site listed in the search engine.

* It helps to boost your position in the search engine.

* It helps to build small streams of traffic to your site.

Links to your site are normally given by also giving a link from your site to the other one. These are called reciprocal links or link swaps. And naturally there are a few services available to automate the link somehow.

Some of these services will automatically add the link to your site and the other site once your link request is approved (through some software to be installed on your site).

Some will simply point you to sites which do use link swaps and who are interested in hearing from you.

Some will also check that the link to your site remains in place, and email you if it disappears. It’s then up to you to either contact the owner of that site to find out why the link has vanished, or to remove the reciprocal link on your site.

But there is one thing they do not do, and which you need to watch for:

How would a visitor to the other site FIND the link back to your site?

Because you can be sure that if a human visitor cannot find it, then it’s unlikely that a search engine will.

Let me give you an example: Andrew was using the service at LinkMetro.com to get links to one of his sites. Someone had a site on a related topic, and they requested a link back to Andrew’s. He checked the link back to his site, and everything looked OK. The other site had requested a link back to their homepage (rather than another specific page), so Andrew checked out that home page.

What did he find?

* No links to the “link directory”.

* No link to a “related sites” page.

* No link to a “resources” page.

It seemed that the link directory on that other site was not linked from the home page of that site.

The other site was requesting inbound links back to its home page, but effectively hiding the return link from the search engines and from website visitors. And that makes the link back to Andrew’s site useless - it’s like that link doesn’t even exist.

So next time you get asked for a reciprocal link, check the route that people and search engines would use to get from that site over to yours. You might be surprised what you find.

Maytas to execute orders worth Rs 8000 crore

Infrastructure firm Maytas Infra said on Thursday that it has an order book of Rs 8,000 crore even after being dropped by the Andhra Pradesh government from the Rs 12,000-crore Hyderabad Metro Rail project.

"Maytas Infra has got an order book of about Rs 8,000 crore for which all financial closure has been achieved and those projects are going on," Ved Jain, Government-nominated Director of Maytas Infrastructure told a TV channel.

He further added that as on date only for one project -- Machilipatnam Port project -- financial closure is being worked out.

However, Jain added that the board sees no problem with the project.

On the Andhra Pradesh government's move to cancel awarding the Hyderabad Metro Rail project to a Maytas-led consortium, he said, "The Metro was always an issue with the board...when we talked to the government it was decided that it will not be a workable proposition and that's why this project is dropped."

The Hyderabad Metro was a huge project involving expenditure of around Rs 12,000 crore with an equity of around Rs 3,000 crore, he said.

"When we as government directors were working on this revival of Maytas Infra, Hyderabad Metro was not into consideration. We have worked out a corporate debt restructuring plan and worked out other plans but the metro project was kept aside as it was a very big project and we were concerned how we will be able to carry it forward," Jain added.

On selling a stake in the Bangalore elevated tollway project he said "the project is almost complete and in October we think we will be handing it over...there is no issue of selling out any BOT project by Maytas Infra."

Maytas Infra has a large number of BOT projects which will be very profitable in times to come, he added.

Rupee falls of 8 week low

The rupee recovered from eight-week lows on Thursday as the dollar fell sharply against major currencies, but its gains were capped by a choppy local sharemarket.

The partially convertible closed at 48.72/73 per dollar, after falling to 49.06, its weakest since May 15, up 0.3 percent from Wednesday's close of 48.88/89. However, the unit is still down 1.7 percent this week.

"Custodial banks were seen selling dollars in the market today and the drop in the dollar index also had an impact on the rupee," Astosh Raina, head of forex trading at HDFC Bank said.

"Think the rupee will touch 49 again tomorrow, unless equities rally a bit. There is Infosys (INFOSYS.BO : 1676.75 -28.95) results tomorrow which would be the key to the direction for stocks and will be watched," he added.

The yen and the dollar fell on Thursday, correcting some of the previous session's gains, with a recovery in European stocks helping buoy the euro and perceived higher risk currencies. The index of the dollar's versus six majors was down 0.7 percent.

Indian shares edged down 0.08 percent on Thursday, but trading was choppy as investors awaited direction from quarterly earnings amid doubts about the prospects for a swift global economic recovery and the outlook for fund flows.

Foreigners have bought about $1 billion of stocks so far this month, taking net inflows in 2009 to nearly $6 billion, a key factor in the rupee's rise from its record low of 52.2 in March.

"In our view, the door remains open to a correction of most Asian currencies in the short term because the recent equity market rally may have overestimated the pace of the recovery and underestimated the challenges ahead," economists at Calyon said in a note.

"Still, beyond this correction, we believe that most Asian currencies will resume appreciation," they said.

The global economy is slowly starting to pull out of its deepest recession since World War Two but a recovery will be sluggish and policies need to remain supportive, the International Monetary Fund said on Wednesday.

One-month offshore non-deliverable forward rupee contracts traded in Singapore were quoted at 48.79/89, weaker than the onshore spot rate.

In the currency futures market, the most traded near-month contract on the National Stock Exchange (^NSEI : 4080.95 +2.05) and MCX-SX closed at 48.7875 and 48.79 respectively, with the total traded volume on the two exchanges at about $1.7 billion.

Television industry blossoms in 2008-2009 From survey

The year 2008 has proved to be the year of 'TV channel boom' with maximum number TV channels getting government nod to go on air. Of the total 394 TV channels that have been granted licence by information and broadcasting ministry till March 2009, over one-fourth of them have got permission to beam in 2008 only.

While the average number of channels to get ministry clearance every year stands at 41, last year registered a record number of channels, with more than double the average figure (around 111) television channels have been granted permission to broadcast in 2008.

"The number of new TV channels has gained momentum due to liberalisation and enhanced enthusiasm shown by the broadcasters to catch a share of the huge entertainment and media industry in India. A number of applications for uplinking are being received and proposals for 145 private satellite TV channels for permission to uplink from India are at various stages of scrutiny," said the annual report of the ministry, explaining the proliferation in the number of new channels. The figures exclude the 22 channels, which the ministry has permitted to go on air last month.

The number of news and current affairs channels, constituting 54% (211) of the total (394), has outnumbered channels of all other genres put together. According to IandB ministry data, while the number of news channels have reached 211 in 2009 from 40 in 2001, the number of channels of all other genres put together have increased to 183 in 2009 from 13 in 2002.

The factors contributing to news channels outnumbering non-news channels include lower entry cost, a growing share in the total media ad-revenue pie and an easy definition to be qualified as a news channel. Currently, a news and current affairs channel is defined as a channel with any element of news and current affair in it.

According to industry estimates, it takes an investment of around Rs 60-70 crore to launch a news channel. However, if the channel happens to be a second or third offering

Japan Tourists Voted World's best

A new survey has revealed that Japanese tourists are the best in the world, and French the worst.

The Japanese retained the top prize, with hoteliers worldwide naming them the world's best tourists, ahead of the British and Canadians.

Japanese tourists were also ranked the quietest and most polite, as well as the cleanest and least likely to complain.

In the survey, around 4500 hoteliers across the globe rated Australians travellers the sixth best among the 27 nationalities surveyed in the second annual global Best Tourist Survey.

Conducted by online travel company Expedia, hoteliers voted on categories including behaviour, spending habits, fashion sense and willingness to try and speak the local language.

Australians tourists were complimented for being sparing in their complaints (third place), being polite (fourth place), and for their willingness to speak the local language and their good behaviour (fifth place in both categories).

The French were the worst tourists, according to hoteliers, who voted them the most frugal and meanest tippers. They were also deemed the most impolite tourists.

The only criticism given to Australians was that they were perceived as loud travellers, according to the survey, which ranked them the fourth noisiest behind the Spanish, Italians and Americans.

"It's encouraging to see that Australians continue to be regarded as good-natured among hoteliers around the world," News.com.au quoted Expedia spokeswoman Louise Crompton as saying.

"While our loudness might land us in trouble sometimes, overall Australians ought to be proud of these results," she added.

Beware of Michael Jackson Virus in your spam folder

I don't think this news is a Hoax as it is coming from Yahoo
Jackson virus and spam spreads on Internet;
San Francisco, July 3 (DPA) Security researchers warned Thursday of the increasing levels of viruses and spam using Jackson's name to snare unsuspecting users.
One e-mail carries the subject line 'Remembering Michael Jackson' was circulating with a worm in tow. The e-mail has a zip file attached that infects victims if downloaded.
'The e-mail, which claims to come from sarah@michaeljackson.com says that the attached ZIP file contains secret songs and photos of Michael Jackson,' Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant at Sophos, wrote on a blog. 'However, the reality is that opening the attachment exposes you to infection - and if your computer is hit you
will be spreading the worm onto other Internet users.'
Cluley said that the malware also spreads via USB memory sticks. Another e-mail promises an exclusive look at a YouTube video of the 'last work of Michael Jackson,' but instead installs a malicious program that steals passwords.

2009 search Engine ranking factors

At the 2009 SMX advanced conference in Seattle Rand Fishkin of SEOMOZ gave a very interesting presentation on the factors that he and his colleagues have assessed as being the most powerful influences upon a site’s ranking in the Google SERPs.

SEOMOZ have a great reputation in the search industry for the quality of their data and some neat tools available from their website. Back in 2005 they published their first series of ranking factors, collated from information gathered from people in the SEO industry. This popular publication was updated in 2007 and looks set for another update with the latest information.

Although many of the fundamentals, highlighted in 2005 and 2007, remain the same there are some notable observations based upon correlation. This time, rather than rely upon the feedback provided by notable individuals from the SEO industry, SEOMOZ have sought correlation in the search results provided by Google.

For example, although many active SEO’s say that the H1 heading tag is very important, data correlation suggests that it is far less important than is commonly believed. There are plenty of websites ranking very well for target keyterms and they are not making much use of the H1.

Contrastingly, the page title tag remains all-important. And keyword placement within the title tag is also very important with words closer to the start of the title having more significance.

Another point made by both correlation and feedback from SEO experts is that onpage keyword density is not as important as many believe. It is noted that offsite, inbound linking factors carry far more weight than onsite factors such as keyword density.

Some estimate the relative split in importance to be around 70% applies to inbound link related factors and around 30% relates to onsite factors, including domain age. This clearly demonstrates the importance of inbound links.

Oceansat to launch soon

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman G Madhavan Nair today said ISRO was planning to launch the indigenously built satellite 'Ocean Sat' on Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) from Sriharikota in July or early August.

Talking to reporters after inaugurating a seminar on ''Aerospace Expanding Frontiers-Technologies and Challenges'' here, he said the launch would be another unique mission of ISRO. The satellite would enable the country to study the sea surface and wind, besides tracking down the fishing zones, he said.

Claiming that ''Chadrayaan-1'' had completed its mission and was a cent per cent success, the ISRO chief said ''we have mapped the entire lunar surface and the data collected had been given to scientific community for analysis. It will be out soon.'' ''Though we had found traces of magnesium and calcium, no trace of water was found on the Moon's surface,'' he said.

58 million job opportunities expected in 2007-2012 Period

Nearly 58 million jobs are expected to be created in the five years from 2007 to 2012 with the non-agriculture sector boosting employment during that period, the Economic Survey tabled in Parliament said on Thursday.

In the Eleventh Five-Year Plan period (2007-12), employment opportunities would surpass the projection of about 45 million, in turn helping to bring down unemployment in the country to below five per cent, according to the Pre-Budget Economic Survey tabled in Parliament.

"The projected increase in total labour force during the Eleventh Five Year Plan is estimated at 45 million. It is also projected that 58 million employment opportunities would be created in the Eleventh Five Year Plan," the survey said.

The report pointed out that this would be greater than the anticipated increase in labour force, leading to a "reduction in the unemployment rate to below five per cent" by 2012.

Rather than the agriculture sector, others like food processing, gems and jewellery, handloom, tourism and construction are expected to contribute in increasing employment in the 2007-12 period.

"It is expected that agriculture sector may not contribute towards any increase in employment during the Eleventh Five Year Plan," the survey noted.
