The Central Board of Secondary Education CBSE , have got the Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry’s approval to launch an international school board on the lines of the UK-based IGCSE affiliated to the University of Cambridge and Geneva based International Baccalaureate (IB) from next year.
The CBSE International, keeping in mind the regional aspirations will design the curriculum in flexi-mode. The responsibility of conducting All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) is assigned to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
From 2010-11 academic session the Delhi Technological University (DTU) would be admitting aspirants from the NCT on the basis of their All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Formerly known as the Delhi College of Engineering, an affiliated college of Delhi University (DU), DTU has been upgraded to an university. While changing its admission policy DTU has now decided to complete the admission process for its undergraduate programmes on the basis of merit of rank of AIEEE results.
DTU has 85% of seats reserved for Delhi candidates and 15% for outside Delhi students. While students from outside Delhi category werebeen admitted on the basis of rank obtained in AIEEE so far, the students from Delhi were selected on the basis of the rank obtained in the Combined Entrance Examination of DU. From the next academic session the admissions for both the category would be based on AIEEE rank, through the counselling conducted by DTU, said assistant registrar, K Singh.
The admissions would be made to 14 BTech courses including 10 programmes of the DCE, and four new courses introduced this year including B Tech in software engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, automotive engineering and engineering physics. The combined intake of these courses would be 910. The prospectus is expected to be made available from February.
Syllabus for AIEEE test is based on common minimum syllabus drawn from different State Boards of School Education. Syllabus is available in the brochure for AIEEE. Timing of the examination is such that the students can fully use their preparations for Class 12 Examination. It is usually conducted in the end of April or beginning of May every year.
The Examination comprises of multiple choice / objective type questions in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. An additional Aptitude Test is given to the candidates opting for B.Arch. / B.Planning Programme. Detailed scorecards with rank / Marks are issued to all candidates.

Eligiblity Criteria
The minimum academic qualification for admission through AIEEE is a pass in the final examination of 10 + 2 (class XII) or its equivalent examinations.
1.The +2 level examination in the 10 + 2 pattern of examination of any recognized Central/State Board Of Secondary Examination ,central Board of Secondary Examination , New Delhi , and Council for Indian School Certificate Examination , New Delhi.
2.Intermediate, or two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/University.
3.Final examination of the two- year course of the joint services wing of National Defence Academy.
4.Any public School/Board/University Examination in India or in foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10 + 2 system.
5.H.S.C. Vocational Examination.
6.A Pass grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects.
